Robins & Day Dealer Group

A few years ago Robins & Day approached Sign Specialists to assist with the install of a roof top Citroen sign at a dealership in Coventry – a complex and difficult task due to the nature and location of the site. The job was completed successfully and can still be seen to this day. Due to us being able to assist in this project (to the clients delight and full satisfaction) Sign Specialists Ltd were approached at the beginning of 2016 to carry out a UK wide roll out for secondary signage at various Robins & Day dealerships – these were located anywhere from Essex to London to Nottingham to Glasgow. All the show rooms had been recently refurbished with new primary branding but extra […]

To commemorate the milestone, Sign Specialists Ltd were honoured to be chosen to assist in the design, overall manufacture & installation of a bespoke, commemorative 150th anniversary sign. Bristol University Hospital

University Bristol Hospital is located right in the heart of the City centre. While it is world renowned for the treatment of patients, it received less plaudits for its external facade which harked back to 1960’s Brutalist architecture. Bristol’s NHS Foundation Trust recently approved a £5 million re-vamp which modernised the building by over-cladding the existing structure, forming a new entrance to the building. Sign Specialists Ltd were privileged to be nominated to supply the signage to regale the newly clad external elevation. This included high level signage (1,000mm high, 120mm returns, built up halo illuminated letters on spacers) to read ‘BRISTOL ROYAL INFIRMARY’ and low level signage (450mm high, 60mm returns, built up letters on spacers) to read ‘UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS BRISTOL NHS FOUNDATION TRUST’ […]

Qbic Hotels London

In February 2015 Sign Specialists were approached by Qbic Hotels London to meet to discuss and provide advice regarding the rebrand of their existing hotel near to the City of London. Initial client scheme drawings were looked over and examined and opinions given as to the viability or otherwise of what the client was looking to achieve. The clients remit was clear – to give the external aspects of the hotel a makeover and to ensure that any signage that was installed matched the brand standard already set by their sister hotel in Amsterdam. From the supplied visuals, Sign Specialists then consulted as to what was achievable, what was not and why and also put forward recommendations as to the specification of the main signage […]

Faith Dean – Albert House

Sign Specialists were approached to design and manufacture a canopy and projecting sign to be installed at a refurbished office block in the centre of London. It brought to the fore our skills at achieving bespoke solutions encompassing customer original desire in terms of look and feel and the forward thinking practicalities of installation. Due to the site location and its limited access, we had to provide a solution where the canopy could be supplied more or less in one piece to minimise disruption, with a durability and lightness in weight to make installation as speedy and efficient as possible (overall size 2460 x 1400 x 1145mm) This involved close consultation with the architect and the recommendation that the originally specified stainless steel letters and […]

Fort Dunlop

One of the UK’s landmark buildings has been given a 21st century facelift with the help and support of Sign Specialists. To provide the latest, most prominent display, we were tasked with producing and installing illuminated signage to four sides of the building’s tower at heights of around 40 metres. The architectural icon that is Fort Dunlop was built in 1916 and is immediately recognisable to users of the M6 near Birmingham where it towers over the southbound carriageway. Once the world’s largest factory, the building was originally home to global tyre manufacturer, Dunlop Rubber Company. When large scale production ceased in the 1980s the site stood largely derelict until a major redevelopment programme twenty years later. Reborn as a thriving commercial hub, the rejuvenated […]

Samuel Jones – Smoke & Ale House

Based in the heart of Exeter’s bustling quayside development, Samuel Jones offers comfortable casual dining and drinking with a fresh and contemporary urban feel. The building itself holds a lot of history, in fact it was originally owned by a Cider Company until Samuel Jones took ownership of the property in 1878 with the intention of increasing Exeter’s trading powers as well as improving his own successful wine and spirit importing business. The building has housed a number of nightspots over the years and boasted the likes of David Bowie, Mud and KC and the Sunshine Band. More recently, St Austell Brewery’s investment of £1.5 million breathed new life into this truly historic building, reigniting Samuel’s dream of bringing the finest ales, wines and spirits […]

Suzuki C&M McDonald

For more than 30 years Sign Specialists Ltd has worked side by side with Suzuki G.B PLC on the development of their car showroom signage. During this time, we have designed, manufactured & installed signage at over 250 sites across the UK, most recently in Scotland for the C&M McDonald dealership, possibly our best Suzuki installation to date. The initial stages of installation required an extensive survey of the showroom in order to fully understand the possibilities; detailed drawings of the site were then produced so that concepts could be created. Based on our design drawings, Suzuki were able to see exactly how their signage would look once installed. On many occasions, including this one, suggestions or alterations are made to the concept in order […]
